All About Chumporn


The port city of Chumphon, considered the "Gateway to the south" is located on the Gulf some 463 kms. south of Bangkok ,The total area is 6,069 square kilometers.To the east and south are basin areas having fruit orchards, plantations and rice fields, as well as forested ares and some small mining operations. It borders on Prachaup Khirikhan to the north ,Burma and Ranong to the west ,Surat Thani to the south and the 222 kms. coastline of the Gulf of Thailand to the east.It is adminstratively divided into six Amphoes and two King Amphoes : Amphoe Muang Chumphon,Lang Suan,Sawi,Tha sae,Pathiu,Lamae and King Amphoe Pha to,Thung Tako.

Being the first southern province to be rehttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifached from every other part of the country, Chumphon is regarded as a gateway through which southbound visitors will have to pass before continuing on their routes to the western or eastern coasts. Chumphon is not only famed for its abundant seafood, but also known as a province of succulent fruits with various marvelous attractions like beaches, islands, forests and caves.

Chumphon covers a total area of 6,009 square kilometers with a long coast stretching for 222 kilometers and 47 islands. Its boundary reaches Prachuap Khiri Khan in the North, the Gulf of Thailand in the East, Surat Thani in the South and Ranong and Myanmar in the West. Geographically, its landscape is alternate plains and mountains. Coconut, rambutan, durian, mangosteen, banana, and pineapple are some varieties of fruits densely grown on eastern plains.

Chumphon is administratively divided into 6 Amphoes and 2 King Amphoes which are Amphoe Muang, Amphoe Lamae, Amphoe Lang Suan, Amphoe Pathiu, Amphoe Sawi, Amphoe Tha Sae, King Amphoe Phato and King Amphoe Thung Tako.
