All About Chumphon

Chumphon is my birth's place
This is for my province.
Chumphon province has been recorded and known since 1098 as the border city of Nakornsrithammaraj (province). "Goat Symbol" was used as the province's emblem. Chumphon was a dominion in south of Ayutthaya kingdom in the era of Tri Lolkanat majesty king. Reign in the period 5 and had been officially organized as Chumphon county by the king, threafter the administration has been changed and Chumphon has became "Province".

The name "Chumphone" has been assumed variously in its origin meaning, such as "Chumnumpol" (merging of people) because it was a frontier of marching, either from north or south, people from both parts came and were together, then the name "Chumnumpol" had been later called "Chumphon". Another assuming of name "Chumphon" is from "Chumnumpol" which means gathering of "Blessing", because before the marching, the commanders usually worshiped the God asked the God to bring them the victory in war in order to encourage their team and when the wishes were grant, they them later called the place "Chumnumporn" or ""Prachumporn".

Another assuming is that the name was made from Banyan Tree. There plenty of Banyan Trees in the area where Chumphon locate because it's located at the Ta-Pau riverside, Banyan tree has also became a symbol of Chumphon.
